Daniel Madariaga Shares Strategies to Reduce Household Electricity Consumption

Entrepreneur and environmental specialist Daniel Madariaga Barrilado explained that small changes in daily habits can lead to significant savings and extend the lifespan of household appliances.

Daniel Madariaga noted that promoting a culture of energy conservation among all family members strengthens energy efficiency.

The specialist recalled that some government programs subsidize part of electricity consumption. However, when a household exceeds established limits, the electricity rate increases considerably, which is why he recommends maintaining efficient consumption.

Among the main actions, Daniel Madariaga advised replacing old equipment with appliances rated A or higher for energy efficiency, installing LED light bulbs, and making the most of natural lighting.

He also recommended unplugging devices that remain on standby, as so-called “vampire power” can account for up to 10% of monthly electricity consumption.

Likewise, he suggested maintaining air-conditioning systems, using smart thermostats, and considering the installation of solar panels to reduce dependence on the electrical grid.

The expert also encouraged households to make better use of their appliances by running full laundry loads, drying clothes in the sun, and using lower-consumption appliances such as microwaves or air fryers.

Finally, Daniel Madariaga noted that monitoring electricity rates, automating household functions, and promoting a culture of energy conservation among all family members strengthens energy efficiency.

“From small changes to investments such as solar panels, every action adds up to building a more sustainable future,” he concluded.

Mexico Promotes Sustainable Lifestyle and Mobility; Aims to Be the Leader in the Americas, according to Daniel Madariaga

Daniel Madariaga. In a global context where sustainable mobility is on the rise, Mexico is aiming to become a key player in promoting a more conscious and environmentally respectful lifestyle in the Americas.

The country’s commitment is reflected in a series of initiatives designed to promote the use of sustainable transportation methods, with the bicycle as its primary focus.

According to the survey Cycling Across the World, approximately two-thirds of the Mexican population are capable of using a bicycle, highlighting a high level of familiarity and willingness to incorporate this mode of transport into their daily lives.

Evidence of this is that 82% of the population supports prioritizing bicycles over cars in infrastructure projects, underscoring the collective will to promote more sustainable and efficient mobility in Mexican cities.

Despite these advancements, significant challenges remain regarding road safety, as revealed by SmartSafe and the Safe Mobility Coalition.

Identifying critical areas for cyclists and pedestrians highlights the urgent need to address these risks and ensure a safe environment for all road users.

In response to these challenges, Mexico has implemented concrete measures, such as the public bicycle system Ecobici and the expansion of the cycling lane network throughout the country.
